Can you get hired in America and become a movie director?

I'd say that would depend on where you think your best chances are of getting the opportunity to work in the movie industry. there are many different paths to success. either coming to the US to study or staying in the UK might work, or might not. it depends on you, what's out there and a fair amount of luck.
